As it has been told, 30.250 business are members of our Chamber, most
of them family owned companies with a deep rooted entrepreneurial culture. The 98 % of our members are SME belonging to every branch of industry
such as manufacturing industry, building and civil engineering,
services supply, wholesale commerce and retail commerce. Our members represent the 5 % of total Catalan manufacturing industry
( in number of companies), and the 10% of total exports of Catalonia.
In the last 10 years export value multiplied four times. Total exports
fort he year 2002; 3.171.774 (thousand euros). The industry is quite diversified nowadays, since the 1980’s when the
textile industry was no longer the prevailing manufacturing industry
as it suffered a strong reconversion process. In that sense there is a
clear leathership of services and building and civil engineering.
